On this blog I will discuss the Scheppach HM1 planing machine. HM stands for the German word:"hobelmaschine" which literally means "planing machine". The number "1" means it's the first build of that series. This version was first made 35 years ago. It's a popular planing machine which, even nowadays, is used by many hobbyists and professionals.
I will discuss the technical aspects of the mechanism behind the machine. I will do the same for material choices and some connection points inside the machine which are crucial to function.
